Belfast and London,UK, Palo Alto, USA 29th March 2002

Simentra ltd, a company dedicated to providing a lower risk new market entry service for high tech start-ups, early stage technology companies and venture capital backed high growth companies today announced the contract for a Knowledge Line service to look at an early stage technology company at one the University of Ulster's N.Ireland based Innovation Centres.

The programme will be an engagement to look at one of the more innovative early stage technology companies that have been located in one of the Innovation Centres to provide a Knowledge Line service and determine the market potential for the product to create a Business Case for the commercialisation of the initial research and existing product set.

Professor Chris Barnett stated that the Simentra Charter Series is an opportunity to endorse the vision of the University to convert world class research into commercially viable product and that the process will further enhance the reputation of the University in its approach to Technology Transfer.

"We recognise that the products that are developed in early stages of academic research offer ground breaking new features and benefits. The value of applying Simentra and their Knowledge Line process at this early stage helps to clearly define the commercial market potential and make fervent financial recommendations that help drive the product development. The main goal of the Technology Transfer has to be the market entry of a product that is commercially viable and sustainable."

Paul Dallimer who leads the Global sales team for Simentra expressed his enthusiasm for the relationship with the University;
"In the research that we have conducted throughout Europe and the USA, those regions that give greatest support to their University Research and Development programmes show the greatest contribution back to the local economy. The University of Ulster has a prestigious reputation globally and Simentra hope that our services will further support the drive to create a world class technology transfer process, commercialising the research at the Innovation centre and create companies with sustainable products."

Simentra will apply their Knowledge Line process to create an opportunity for the early stage company to recognise the focus that will be required on their product, proposition, process and people - the key modules of Simentra's Knowledge Line delivery mechanism. The purpose will be to create a commercial Business Case for the company to accelerate their growth to the point of actual sales revenue and a product roadmap that will provide sustainable business in the future.
